Overview
The evolution of solar photovoltaics as an integral part of the building’s fabric – called “building integrated photovoltaics” or “BIPV,” is creating a vehicle for architectural design and the designer’s interest in expressing renewable energy technologies. At the same time, that very opportunity for a wide variety of architectural expression creates the requirement for early design consideration and a careful, maintained commitment to that integration during schematic design, design development, and the execution of construction documents.
