Foster's Wine Estates
Sonoma and Napa County, CA
The Largest Solar Installation in the Wine Country
As a leading California-based solar energy integrator, Stellar Energy Solutions was pleased to be recruited as the solar engineer and general contractor for the installation of solar energy systems at four California wineries owned by Foster’s Wine Estates: Asti, Etude, Stags’ Leap and Beringer wineries. Now on-line, the four installations will produce 3.8 million kilowatt hours of renewable electricity per year.
Beringer Vineyards hosts a 1,341,200 watt DC system, the largest operational solar installation at a winery in the United States. Additionally, Beringer’s sister winery at Asti hosts the third largest system of its kind, producing 1,152,144 watts DC. Combined with the installations at Etude and Stags’ Leap wineries, the four systems occupy 400,000 square feet of total rooftop structures and will eliminate 2.0 million pounds of carbon dioxide emissions each year from the environment, equivalent to the removal of 183 passenger cars from the roads each year.”
During the course of the year, the system will produce more than 350,000 kilowatts of clean energy from plentiful California sunshine. Energy generated by the solar array will reduce more than 11,000 tons of carbon dioxide pollution over 25 years, which is the equivalent to planting 130 acres of trees or not driving 28 million miles.
